A modern OptoSoft alternative
This page is for an optical shop owner who has OptoSoft on the shortlist, or is already running it, and wants to know honestly what a switch to LensVerge would and would not change. OptoSoft is a long-standing Indian optical product: their site describes a cloud web application with an Android mobile POS, GST billing with CGST/SGST/IGST and HSN codes, unlimited prescription history, barcode inventory with low-stock alerts, WhatsApp automation over the official Meta API, and multi-store role-based access. If that list is what you need, they are a reasonable fit and we will not pretend otherwise.
The reason shops look past a billing-and-inventory product is almost never billing or inventory. It is the part of the month after the sale: the customer who bought two years ago and has not been called, the eye test slot that only gets booked if somebody picks up the phone, the second pair that never gets sold because nobody knows the prescription is due. That is the ground LensVerge is built on, and it is where the two products genuinely differ.

OptoSoft vs LensVerge, feature by feature
The OptoSoft column is filled only from their published page. Where they do not state something we write “see their site” rather than guess on their behalf.
| Feature | OptoSoft | LensVerge |
|---|---|---|
| Deployment | Cloud web app plus an Android mobile POS with real-time sync; on-premise/self-hosted option offered (their site). | Cloud, in any browser — plus an installable phone/tablet app. Nothing tied to one shop PC. |
| Offline billing | Not stated on the page we read — see their site. | Bills keep printing with the internet down; every sale syncs itself when the line is back. |
| GST tax invoice / Bill of Supply | GST billing that auto-calculates CGST, SGST and IGST with HSN codes (their site). Bill of Supply handling for a composition/unregistered shop: see their site. | Both. Your GST mode picks the title and the HSN column; one tick on the bill switches CGST+SGST to IGST. A non-GST shop never sees GST artifacts. |
| WhatsApp + web bookings | WhatsApp automation over the official Meta API for order updates and reminders (their site). Customer self-booking: see their site. | A WhatsApp booking bot and your own /book link; slots land in the appointments board in IST. |
| Eye-test recall worklists | Not stated on the page we read — see their site. | Due-date worklists from the prescription date, plus birthday and festival nudges, with attribution. |
| Loyalty points | Not stated on the page we read — see their site. | Points earned and redeemed at the counter, redemption applied as an invoice discount so GST stays correct (Growth and Pro). |
| SPH×CYL lens power grid | Barcode/QR inventory with low-stock alerts (their site). A per-power SPH×CYL grid is not described — see their site. | Stock held per power cell; the cell and the stock count move together on every sale and every edit. |
| Backups you can download | Not stated on the page we read — see their site. | Daily automatic backups plus a Backup Now file you download and keep yourself (Growth and Pro). |
| Pricing model | ₹6,000 per store per year in India; US$399/store/year international; US$3,999 one-time on-premise licence (their site, 5 Sep 2026). | Published monthly: ₹499 Starter, ₹1,999 Growth, ₹3,999 Pro (20% off yearly). 14-day free trial, no card. |
See a booking arrive without a phone call
Sixty seconds: a customer picks a slot on WhatsApp, and it appears on the appointments board in IST.
What carries over when you switch
Nobody wants to relearn the counter. The three workflows your staff use every hour — GST billing, inventory and prescriptions — work the way they already expect.
GST billing, unchanged in habit
If your staff bill with CGST/SGST and HSN codes today, they will bill the same way on day one. LensVerge derives the invoice from your shop GST mode: a registered shop gets a "GST Tax Invoice" with the HSN column, CGST+SGST intra-state or IGST inter-state; a composition or unregistered shop gets a "Bill of Supply" with no GST artifacts anywhere. Tax is calculated after discount, never before. Thermal 80mm and 58mm, A4 and A5 all print from the same invoice. (GST rates as notified; confirm slabs with your CA.)
Inventory, barcodes and low stock
Frames with up to four photos, SKUs and barcodes, printable barcode and price label sheets, low-stock alerts, suppliers and a per-product stock history you can scroll. Duplicate products are hard-blocked at entry — same category, brand, model, colour, size and material returns the existing SKU instead of quietly creating a second row, so your stock count means something a year later.
Prescriptions and history
Full SPH/CYL/AXIS/ADD/VA/PD capture with validation as you type, a transpose helper, anisometropia warnings, and unlimited history per customer. One mobile number can carry several family members, each with their own prescriptions and bills — the shared phone is the grouping, which is how an Indian optical shop actually works. Prescriptions print, export as PDF and go out on WhatsApp with your review QR on the sheet.
What changes downstream of the sale
This is the part that is different, and it is the reason shops move: what happens in the weeks after the bill is printed.
Customers book themselves
A customer messages your WhatsApp number and the bot walks them through name, slot and confirmation; or they open your own /book link from your Google listing or a flyer. Slots land on the appointments board in IST — no diary, no phone call, no staff time.
Recall worklists that name names
Every prescription has a due date. LensVerge turns that into a daily worklist of exactly who to message today, logs what was sent so nobody is nudged twice, and attributes the sale when they come back. Birthday and festival nudges ride the same list.
Loyalty that does not break the GST
Points earn on the bill and redeem at the counter. Redemption is applied as an ordinary invoice-level discount, so the taxable value and the tax are correct by construction — a fully redeemed bill still completes and still prints as a valid document.
A growth kit you can print today
An editable shop flyer and a Google review QR code, both generated from your own shop profile. Growth and Pro plans include them.
Backups you actually hold
Daily automatic backups, plus a Backup Now button that hands you the file. Your customer list, stock and bills are yours to download on any day, not something you have to request.
Migration: what it actually takes
Be clear-eyed about this: LensVerge has no OptoSoft importer today. There is no button that reads their export and fills your shop.
What actually happens is one of two things. Most shops start clean: your live stock is entered once (barcode labels printed the same afternoon), and customers are added as they walk in — within a few weeks the people who actually buy from you are all in the system, and the ones who never came back were never worth migrating. Or, if you have a clean customer/stock export in Excel or CSV, send it to us on WhatsApp during your trial and we will look at it with you and load what we can.
Either way, run both for a fortnight. The 14-day trial needs no card, and optional sample data loads in one click, so you can test a GST bill before you type a single real row.
