A modern Invoay alternative
This page is for an optical shop owner weighing Invoay against LensVerge. Invoay describes a cloud POS with mobile apps on iOS, Android and Windows, and its optical page lists a wide retail feature set: real-time inventory tracking with batch and expiry management, barcode integration for transactions and stock updates, multi-location management across stores and warehouses, a customer CRM with purchase history and loyalty integration, advanced POS billing, SMS and WhatsApp marketing automation, employee management with commission tracking, financial reporting and accounting tools, mobile ordering and an e-commerce platform, payment processing across multiple gateways, promotions and discount management, analytics with custom reporting, and ERP integration with SAP, Tally and Microsoft Dynamics. On tax, the page describes inbuilt GST functionality and timely return reports. The page itself publishes no prices and points to their pricing page.
Read that list again and you will notice its shape: it is a strong general retail platform — batch and expiry, warehouses, e-commerce, commissions — with optical as one vertical it serves. That is a real choice, not a flaw. The question is whether your shop needs retail breadth or optical depth. A frame is not a batch-and-expiry SKU, and a lens is not one SKU at all; it is a grid of powers.

Invoay vs LensVerge, feature by feature
The Invoay column is filled only from their published page. Where they do not state something we write “see their site” rather than guess on their behalf.
| Feature | Invoay | LensVerge |
|---|---|---|
| Deployment | Cloud POS with mobile apps for iOS, Android and Windows (their page). | Cloud, in any browser — plus an installable phone/tablet app. Nothing tied to one shop PC. |
| Offline billing | Not stated on the page we read — see their site. | Bills keep printing with the internet down; every sale syncs itself when the line is back. |
| GST tax invoice / Bill of Supply | Inbuilt GST functionality with timely return reports (their page). Bill of Supply handling for a non-GST shop: see their site. | Both. Your GST mode picks the title and the HSN column; one tick on the bill switches CGST+SGST to IGST. A non-GST shop never sees GST artifacts. |
| WhatsApp + web bookings | SMS and WhatsApp marketing automation is described; customer self-booking for eye tests is not — see their site. | A WhatsApp booking bot and your own /book link; slots land in the appointments board in IST. |
| Eye-test recall worklists | CRM with purchase history is described; an eye-test due-date worklist is not — see their site. | Due-date worklists from the prescription date, plus birthday and festival nudges, with attribution. |
| Loyalty points | Customer CRM with loyalty integration, plus promotions and discount management (their page). | Points earned and redeemed at the counter, redemption applied as an invoice discount so GST stays correct (Growth and Pro). |
| SPH×CYL lens power grid | Real-time inventory with batch and expiry management and barcode integration (their page). A per-power SPH×CYL grid is not described — see their site. | Stock held per power cell; the cell and the stock count move together on every sale and every edit. |
| Backups you can download | Not stated on the page we read — see their site. | Daily automatic backups plus a Backup Now file you download and keep yourself (Growth and Pro). |
| Pricing model | No figures on the optical page; it links to their pricing page — check there. | Published monthly: ₹499 Starter, ₹1,999 Growth, ₹3,999 Pro (20% off yearly). 14-day free trial, no card. |
Prescriptions on paper, PDF and WhatsApp
The Rx sheet a customer actually keeps — printed, sent as a PDF, and carrying your review QR.
What carries over when you switch
Nobody wants to relearn the counter. The three workflows your staff use every hour — GST billing, inventory and prescriptions — work the way they already expect.
POS billing, barcodes and payments
Everything your counter does today: scan to add, split a bill across cash and UPI/card, discount at the line or the whole bill, and print thermal 80mm or 58mm, A4 or A5. Negative or impossible bills are rejected at the server — a discount can never exceed what it is discounting — so your sales figures cannot be corrupted by a mis-keyed line.
GST invoices and return data
CGST+SGST intra-state, IGST inter-state, HSN on the line, tax computed after discount. A registered shop gets a GST Tax Invoice under its GSTIN; a composition or unregistered shop gets a Bill of Supply with no GST artifacts at all. GSTR-1 export uses the pre-tax taxable base, so taxable × rate reconciles to the tax. Rates as notified; confirm with your CA.
Customers, loyalty and multi-location
Customer history, loyalty points, and multi-branch on the Pro plan where branches sit under one organisation with per-branch staff access. Family members sharing one mobile number each keep their own prescriptions and bills — the shared phone is the grouping, which is how Indian optical customers actually arrive.
What changes downstream of the sale
This is the part that is different, and it is the reason shops move: what happens in the weeks after the bill is printed.
Lens stock as a grid, not a SKU
Single-vision power stock lives on an SPH×CYL grid with a count per cell. Selling −2.00/−0.75 moves that cell and the stock total together, and a manual adjustment on a gridded product is refused outright so the grid stays the truth.
Prescriptions built for optometry
SPH, CYL, AXIS, ADD, VA and PD with live validation, a transpose helper, an axis-required rule when CYL is non-zero, and anisometropia warnings. Prints, exports as PDF, and goes out on WhatsApp with your review QR on the sheet.
The workshop and repairs
Order and repair Kanban boards with lab name, expected date and printable job cards, plus a "ready for pickup" WhatsApp message that quotes the same reference the customer can see.
Bookings and recall, not just marketing blasts
A WhatsApp booking bot and your own /book link take appointments end to end in IST, and recall worklists tell you exactly who is due for an eye test today, logged so nobody is messaged twice and attributed when they buy.
Backups and a growth kit
Daily automatic backups with a Backup Now download, plus an editable flyer and a Google review QR from your shop profile. Growth and Pro.
Migration: what it actually takes
Plainly: there is no Invoay importer, and LensVerge has no self-serve data import today.
That means your customer list is re-entered or we help. Export customers and stock from Invoay as Excel or CSV, send the files to us on WhatsApp during your 14-day trial, and we will look at them with you and load what we can. If an export is not practical, enter live stock once, print labels the same afternoon, and let the customer list build from real footfall — within a few weeks the people who buy from you are all in the system.
Also worth planning: if you rely on Invoay for e-commerce or a Tally/SAP integration, LensVerge does not replace those. It replaces the shop counter and everything the shop counter should be doing afterwards.
